Senator Vidak invited members of JFB to tour the Capital and take a group photo!
The Kings Jr. Fair Board, aka JFB, was established approximately 20 years ago and has grown from a small group of kids raising money for awards to a group of 40 young people from throughout the county ranging from grade school to high school seniors. Requirements to become a member of the JFB include having a positive attitude, a willingness to share knowledge with others and a passion to be involved. The group has become an integral part of the Kings Fair and the community.
Each year the JFB organizes and facilitates fundraisers to help with the cost for such items as livestock awards and participates in many community service activities, which includes cleanup at the annual Farm Bureau Wine Tasting & Annual Dinner events. The JFB promotes ag education by providing tours of their Educational Ag Center and the livestock barns to school aged children and teachers during the Kings Fair. The JFB members enjoy providing the Exhibitor’s Social to the junior livestock exhibitors along with games to ease the tension from competition. Each day of the Fair children aged 3-8 can participate in the peddled powered tractor pulls which has become a very popular attraction. Sundays are always busy days for the JFB as they provide Pee Wee Showmanship in goats and adult showmanship in all species to keep our parents and friends entertained as well. With the help of our three awesome advisors Loretta Toledo, Kristine Scott, and Aaron Avila we are able to advise and direct our young members to do the best they can and be the best citizen they can within the community.
The JFB is highly praised state wide for their leadership and hard work. The Secretary of Agriculture has invited the JFB since March 2000 to help provide ag education to politicians and their staff during National Ag Day at the capital in Sacramento.
